Ashley Yarber is the Head Band Director at Claughton Middle School. She is currently in her eighth year of teaching, and her third year at CMS. Her primary instrument is the trombone.
Mrs. Yarber currently teaches the Symphonic Band, beginning flute/oboe, clarinet, French Horn, and trombone classes. She assists Mr. Maldonado with Concert Band. Under her direction, the Symphonic Band received "Superior" ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in 2019.
A native Houstonian, Mrs. Yarber attended high school in Cy-Fair ISD, and is a two-time, 5A Texas All-State Band member. She was a drum major at Cypress Woods High School for three years. She graduated with honors from Stephen F. Austin State University in May of 2013. While at SFASU, she was selected as a winner of the Orchestra of the Pines Concerto Competition, and was also chosen to perform with a select group at the Big 12 Trombone Festival in 2012. She still enjoys playing her trombone and teaches private lessons in the Houston area.
Mrs. Yarber is an active member of the Texas Music Educator's Association, Texas Band Master's Association, and the International Trombone Association.
Mrs. Yarber is happily married to Mr. Robby Yarber. They are the proud parents of two fur babies; a cat named Gizmo and a dog named Big Momma. Mrs. Yarber loves teaching band, bike riding, coffee and all things food.
John Maldonado is the Assistant Band Director at Claughton Middle School. He is currently in his sixth year teaching, and has taught his entire career at CMS. His primary instrument is percussion.
Mr. Maldonado currently teaches the Concert Band, beginning saxophone/bassoon, trumpet, low brass, and percussion classes. He assists Mrs. Yarber with Symphonic Band. Under Mr. Maldonado's direction, the Concert Band received "Superior" ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in 2019.
Mr. Maldonado is a proud product of Spring ISD, having graduated from Westfield HS in 2008. After High School, he attended Sam Houston State University and performed in a variety of ensembles. He is a part of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity. He still enjoys performing, and gigs around the Houston area.
Mr. Maldonado is an active member of the Texas Music Educator's Association and the Texas Band Master's Association.
Mr. Maldonado is happily married to Mrs. Luise Maldonado. They are the proud parents of three fur babies; a cat and two dogs. Mr. Maldonado loves teaching band, McDonald's, and breakfast tacos.
